Brewfest: Ramming Speed!

Busy busy, not much time to play.  I’m making an attempt at the Brewfest achievements, but the MUSIC is making me want to scream.  Play with sound off for this one, right.

The quests so far, including a number of quests involving you riding a ram and completing the quests in 4 minutes or less….it would be okay if your ram didn’t get fatigued constantly, and he’ll disappear altogether if you push him, yech.  Whoever thought up this holiday and the quests that go with it…bad dog!

Weekly Roundup, Yee Hah!

Dungeons and Dragons

I have always wanted to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons, the tabletop game.  This week I had the chance.  I can see the appeal, it is pure imagination and making things up as you go along.  I was distracted by other things and the mathematical nature of it wasn’t so appealing, but other than that, way cool.  I chose a warrior as I often do in a new game because they’re simple and effective fighters and you can learn all the other game elements as you mindlessly whack away.  It turns out my guy was a bit too mindless, and boring and he had no moves.  The Cleric and the Wizard had a billion things they could try out but my thuggish boy was a mere lump who was flanked over and over by goblins.  Suckerbite warrior.

Final Fantasy

I keep reading lately how awesome Final Fantasy is and ooh ah you should play.  I feel the twitch to leap in but nooo.  Have too much else to do maybe later.

World of Warcraft

Big update week.  I’m enjoying reading the forums.  Timeless Isle, which I recall from a Wow Insider post as being some place where you happily wandered around FREE AS A BIRD, la la la, seems to be peeving people to no end.  PVP people have puny gear compared to PVE people somehow.  Ganking rules apparently.  Doesn’t sound any too interesting.

I’m more interested in rounding out my characters, leveling all their tradeskills.  See me roar.  My level 90 is slowly working her way along through Archaeology.  I tell myself I should try to complete the quests in each area while I’m there, (for the Loremaster Achievement) but I haven’t the patience.  They did a small change to Archaeology and a little status bar for the Digsite lets you know how many of the six relics you’ve found.  I could be wrong but the icons for the relics look more colorful and spiffed up.  Who needs to go to Timeless Isle and get pounded when you can float through ruins getting cute relics?

From IGN: The Biggest Upcoming MMORPGs You need to have on your radar

An IGN article lists 9 upcoming MMORPGs they are excited about.  A particularly well written article by Lief Johnson, I just liked the writing style.  In order from 9 to 1 they list:

Ultima IV C64 for IOS Free from the App Store

I only had time to download it and take a quick peek.  That music, that little happy computerized music that accompanied every game back in the day. It greets you right away.  There is a huge beginners manual that you may want to print out and the game seems quite deep and just the thing to sink your teeth into for great adventure and puzzle solving over the long cold upcoming winter.

Kotaku: The Classic PC Games You Must Play

kotaku

Kotaku has a fun article asking readers to recommend their top games   http://kotaku.com/the-classic-pc-games-you-must-play-1246823468     Head on over and weigh in!

GuidelinesP

1. Only games from 2003 and earlier. The last ten years is still too current to qualify for a “classics” list. Hey, we had to draw the line somewhere!P

2. Please don’t leave non-entry, direct comments on this post. They’ll just get pushed down. Save your comments for others’ submissions.P

3. All entries must be legally purchasable. We’d prefer you include games that are easily available digitally, but if you must include a game that is difficult to find, link to the eBay and Half.com pages (or similar sites) to help people find cheap used copies. Any comments linking to torrent/piracy sites will be removed.P

4. Avoid dupes. If someone’s beaten you to your favorite classic game, please avoid making a second entry for it. Instead, chime in beneath their comment to add your own take on the game, your own images, your own memories and videos. It’s true that this approach will favor those who read and act quickly, but it’s also the best way to get a list that is easily scannable and doesn’t have 12 entries for Deus Ex. (Which I actually already wrote up. Heh. Sorry.)P

5. Follow this format for your entries, including bold text:P

IMAGE [preferably at 970×546]

[Game Name]

Why: Explain why the game is great. Make your case! Try to keep it to a single paragraph, maybe two. Feel free to include a video example, if that helps.

Where you can get it: Put all the places you can get a copy, with a link if possible. eBay, Half.com, other places for used copies of games that aren’t available digitally.

Tips for modern machines: Lots of classic games have a few tweaks that’ll make them run better on modern machines. Include those here, along with any links to forum posts summing up which patches to include. Links to HD mods, other user-created fixes and content are also great!P

The Last Chapter Level 25 Alliance Guild!

Ta da!  Thanks to our hard slogging peeps, especially my Spousal Peep (aka Peep #1) we have the glorious level 25.  Long road for us non-chipmunkers.   We have enjoyed getting each new guild perk as we earned it.  Many of my non-healing characters will be pleased to save the day in future dungeons with Mass Resurrection!

For my own characters I’ll concentrate on leveling my crafts and making the most uber stuff I can for my guildies to continue to make the game a fun place to be.

Weekly Roundup

weekly roundup

Yay, yay!  another fine edition of the weekly roundup.  It’s all about World of Warcraft this week as we push to level 25 as a guild.  At 96% as I write, it should be a done deal by later this evening 🙂  We have such good peeps in the guild.  How I do love them 🙂

It is funny because as we’re working so hard together for this goal I see people in trade WTB Guild, Want to sell Guild….I became aware recently some people just start and level up guilds  to sell them for fun and profit.  They recruit poor little chipmunk level players to grind along and help them level it up if it isn’t at level 25.

Keep the Wheel Moving!  Level Up!

Chipmunk

All those “fun social guilds” you get invites to might all be what we’ll term “Chipmunk Guilds” for the furious efforts of low level players to complete quests and help the guild level so the bozo can sell it off.  Mice on a wheel man… By the way if it is level 25 when purchased, then the Chipmunk Master may hold onto the guild long enough to have a certain number of bank tabs or a certain amount of money made by the guild perks that toss 10% or so into the bank for every copper the Chipmunks make.

Want to sell Guild!  Used peeps included!

Darkmoon Faire    The faire snuck up on me this week.  I only noticed peeps (speaking of…) from Farstriders and Cenarion Circle no evil Moonguard this time.  I allowed myself to fantasize this meant these were the realms we’ll end up with after The Connection.   And Evil steenkin Moonguard will GO AWAY.   Ever the Dreamer.

Everquest II

I played my Defiler cat enough to see agh she’s like a Shadow Priest.  She was getting pounded by things four levels below her.  I took the time to rearrange her skills, see what each did, blah blah…sent her back out, much better!  Once I get a good handle on her I’ll make her available as a healer and Gasp be social with her to maximize her potential.  Good Kitty.
