3 Minutes To Midnight

Via Adventure Gamers   https://adventuregamers.com/videos/view/35910   a trailer for a 2019 point and click Adventure Game called 3 Minutes To Midnight.

It has a forties cartoony style that reminds me somewhat of the recent game Cuphead.

“A comedy adventure with a sprawling story and colorful cast. Betty Anderson can’t remember who she is, but she has bigger worries – like a doomsday plot threatening to wipe out the human race. Join Betty to crack the conspiracy that starts with a bang and ends at 3 Minutes to Midnight.”

Here’s an article and video with more information  https://adventuregamers.com/articles/view/35514

Here’s the Scarecrow Studios site with a ton more information and cool screenshots.

Try It Tuesday An Unknown Tale From My Steam Library: Broken Age

I’m glad I finally tried out this totally charming game.  It begins with the typical maidens about to be sacrificed to the Monster to save the village.

Everyone in Vella’s family is thrilled for her to be among the chosen for sacrifice, except for Grandpa.  He wants villagers to be the warriors they once were, and to defeat Mog Chothra.

The local maidens chosen to vie for the attention of Mog Chothra are absolutely not interested in Vella’s suggestions that they use objects at hand to defeat the monster.   Vella seems to be the only one who keeps thinking of ways to escape to the last.

They want to be chosen, even after they see others snatched and slurped into the monster’s huge mouth.

Vella, clever and brave to the last, figures out a way to escape.

From dutiful daughter to heroine riding through the sky…

She finds a new place to continue her adventures that isn’t the belly of a beast.

I love how casual Vella is about everything.   She’s a welcome heroine.   The cartoon style is simple but pretty.   Movement is point and click.   Reasonable puzzles for my non-logical brain.

The Journeyman Project Turbo

From the era When Games Were Games and my computer didn’t want to run many of the games I wanted to play:

The Journeyman Project, a trip through various times that I never got to see because every click of the mouse took forever to get a response, before just completely freezing….agh.  I bought its sequel Buried In Time as well, ever hopeful.

This is one of my first nominees for older point and click games that would be so perfect for the ipad.  I really think so many older games would be so great for that format and would do much to end the drought of awful games that are currently available.  Dream big! Dream small enough for my ipad.

Tiny Screen Adventures: The Longest Journey

Save after every conversation is my new motto.   Many aren’t long, but our girl April is…the B Word.

You traditionally try to talk to everyone in this type of game to get information about the game and the world.  I take the most polite options offered but she still manages to blast everyone she meets with some rudeness.
We appear to be on a future earth but it isn’t a sleek future.  Everything seems grungy.

Except for this park, of course.
I’m hoping our April snaps out of her eternal witchiness and becomes likeable soon or she’s sailing over the next cliff she comes to.

Tiny Screen Adventures: Syberia

I hoped I would be spending a short time at the train station in Barrockstadt, but I’m still working to find a way to get the train moving again.

Because it has a clockwork mechanism, it needs to be wound up again before the journey can continue.  I found a winding tool of sorts.

In order to get my immobile train up there I need to:
Open some locks so a tugboat can pull the train forward.
Fix a mechanical bandstand for three University regents who must have graduated from Three Stooges University.
Recover a mammoth doll from a paleontologist who creates wine as a side hobby.
It may not sound like much to do but the path to accomplishing anything is very long.

Tiny Screen Adventures: The Longest Journey

I have this for PC and I now recall I didn’t get very far in the game.  I had been thinking it was some technical glitch, but I can see now that I stopped dead after The Longest Most Awful Conversation in all my gaming history. The two women pictured below have an interminable dialog about the apt. building they live in and its residents and everyone’s love lives.  I thought I was gonna die.

I could not escape the conversation until every annoying tidbit had been discussed. JSM.
Muttering terribly I made sure I saved the game once I was finally released.
As a side note, inventory items are combined by dragging one item on top of another.
I shall report back once I escape Slime Central.
